Edoardo Ales (Rome, 1968) is, since 2002, Full Professor of Labour and Social Security Law at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. From 1996 to 2000, he was Lecturer in Labour and Social Security Law at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He teaches also at LUISS – G. Carli (Rome) and at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien. He has coordinated several national and international research project in his field of interest and cooperated several time with the European Institutions (Commission and Parliament) and national labour authorities in Italy and in France. He is expert in European Labour and Social Security (coordination) Law, in European Employment and Social Inclusion Policy, in Italian, German and Austrian Labour and Social Security Law. From 2001 to 2004, he has been national expert for Italy within the DGV Network of experts on Free Movement of Workers coordinated by the Max-Planck-Institute for Social Security Law in Munich. Since 2018 is national expert of MoveS. Since 2006, he is member of the Scientific Committee and national expert for Italy of the European Labour Law Network (now ECE). He has published and edited several books on individual and collective labour law as well as Health and Safety Law. He is author of several essays on international and national Labour and Social Security Law published in national and international journals. Together with O. Deinert, M. Bell and Sophie Robin-Olivier, he is editing the International and European Labour Law Commentary for Nomos-Hart-Bloomsbury. Since 2012, he is Coordinator of the International and Editorial Activities of the Marco Biagi Fundation. He is co-editor of the “Rivista del Diritto della Sicurezza Sociale” and member of the board of Directors of the “Giornale di Diritto del Lavoro e delle Relazioni Industriali”.
Mayor of Torino since June 2016, she has served as Member of the City Council and as Vice Chairman of the Budget Committee of the City of Torino during the last 5 years. Graduated in International Management and Economics, she also holds a Master in Management Audit and
Planning, both earned at the University “Luigi Bocconi” in Milano. Born in 1984, she has been working for six years in her family’s firm as Financial Manager and previously she has been Controller in Juventus Football Club S.p.A.
Takashi Araki is professor of law at the University of Tokyo and former Dean of its Law School. He is an award-winning author of two comparative books on German, US and Japanese labor and employment law, and editor of more than ten English books on comparative labor law.
In Japan, he is currently the vice-president of the Central Labor Relations Commission, and Chair of Working Conditions Committee, Labor Policy Council in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Internationally, he is the former vice-president of the ISLSSL and actively involved in comparative labor studies. He has been a visiting scholar and professor at several institutions worldwide, including Harvard Law School (1990-91, 2013-14), the Catholic University of Leuven (1991-92), Columbia Law School (1997), Cambridge University (2000-01), University of Illinois College of Law (2001) and Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main (2014, 2015).
Janice Bellace is the Samuel Blank Professor of Legal Studies, and Professor of Legal Studies, Business Ethics and Management, at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Professor Bellace was a member of the ILO’s Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations from 1995 – 2010. In her final two years, she chaired the committee.
This year she was appointed a judge on the World Bank Administrative Tribunal.
For more than ten years, she was the general editor of the Comparative Labor Law Journal, and upon stepping down from that position in 1997 she became a senior editor of the Journal.
She is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Labour Law and Industrial Relations, and several non-American journals of law and industrial relations.
Professor Bellace is currently treasurer of the International Society of Labour and Social Security Law.
She was president of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association from 2009 – 2012 during which time she organized the 2012 world congress in Philadelphia, which focused on “the Governance of Work in a Global Economy.”
Active in several American professional organizations, she was president of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (of the United States) in 2016-2017. She is a former Secretary of the Section on Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association. She is presently co-chair of the Public Review Board of the United Auto Workers.
Professor Bellace was the founding president of Singapore Management University in 1999.
Professor Bellace is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her bachelor’s and juris doctor degrees. She also has a master’s degree from the London School of Economics, and an honorary doctorate in economics from Sydney University.

Graduated in Medicine, specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. Since 1981, he has been working at the Maria Adelaide Hospital in Turin, where he was a first-level Medical Officer and head of operations unit. He began the political-administrative activity in 1990; he was Councillor for Sports and Culture of Rivoli for five years, while from 1995 to 2004 he was Mayor of the City. During the same period, he was President of the Assembly of mayors of ASL 5 (Azienda Sanitaria Locale) and of the Rivoli-Rosta-Villarbasse Social welfare Consortium. Re-elected in the City Council of Rivoli, as a leader of the DS, he resigned in May 2007. In 2005 he was elected for the first time in the Regional Council in the DS list of Turin, he joined the Democratic Party group, formed in November 2007, he was deputy leader and Vice-President of the Special Commission of Investigation on the Mauriziano, Member of Commissions II, III, IV, VI Post-Olympics and Investigation on the Association Grinzane Cavour. In the IX th Legislature, he was part of Commissions III, IV, V, VI
of Investigation for the promotion of the culture of legality. Nino Boeti was re-elected in 2014 (proportional share) in Turin with 6.456
votes. On 30 June, during the seat of the establishment of the X th Legislature, he was elected Vice-President of the Regional Council.
On 10 April 2018, he was elected President of the Regional Council.

In addition to his teaching and research work as Professor of Labour Law and Director of the Chair of Immigration (University of Girona), Dr. Camas Roda is a Socieux+ EU international expert on Labour and Employment. He has also been appointed guest lecturer at the University of Perpignan (France), lecturer for the Open University of Catalonia, and member of the advisory board of the Barcelona law firm, Sagardoy Abogados.
In his role as Professor of Labour and Social Security Law, he lectures at the University of Girona notably in the Law Degree and the Master’s Degree in Work, Labour Relations and Human Resources.
His research work is focused on the areas of immigration and the labour market; employment and vocational training; EU Social Law and the free movement of workers; working conditions and workplace health and safety, and finally, the division of powers between the State and the Autonomous Communities with regard to Labour Relations.
As a result of his research, Dr. Camas has published several books and articles in specialist journals, including the monograph Decent Work and Immigrants in Spain, published in 2016 by Editorial Huygens, and a chapter entitled EU Immigration Policies in the co-authored work Major Current Debates in Labour Law and Social Protection. Studies in Memory of Dr. Manuel Ramón Alarcón Caracuel, published in 2016 by the Andalusia Labour Relations Board. And finally, his article on the prohibition of discrimination against families of workers who have exercised their right to freedom of movement from obtaining social benefits was published in 2017 for the journal Trabajo y Derecho.
To conclude, it should be noted that Dr. Camas Roda is a member of the editorial board of the journal Modulema (a scientific journal on Cultural Diversity) and honorary member of the editorial board of Juruá Editorial and « Consinter » (International Board of Contemporary Postgraduate Studies).

Born in Moncalieri, on 1 st September 1948. After reaching a diploma in accounting, he graduated with honours in Political Science at the University of Turin. In 1974, he performed the military service in the Alpini corp. He started his career as researcher for the University of Turin, for which, from 1975 to 1980, he coordinated the Economic planning for the Piedmont Region. During the same period, he served as Councillor to the City of Moncalieri. At the beginning of his university and political activities, he maintained a strong connection with the local community, with a focus on the economic and social aspects.
Between 1985 and 1987, he developed an international experience serving as official at the European Parliament. After returning to Piedmont, he became leader of the CGIL trade union, improving his knowledge on the labour market, its dynamics and the local development.
In 1991, he was appointed Secretary of the PDS party, firstly at the provincial and then at the regional level; he maintained that position until 1996, when he was elected member of the Chamber of Deputies to the Italian Parliament. His first mandate as Mayor of Turin was in 2001, and he was re-elected in 2006. From 2009 to 2011, he also served as President of ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities). In May 2012, he was appointed Chair of the “Compagnia di San Paolo”, a position that he resigned in February 2014, in order to submit his candidature as President of the Piedmont Region. On 25 May 2014, he was elected President of the Piedmont Region and from July 2014 to December 2015, he served as President of the Conference of Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces.

Isabelle Daugareilh is a CNRS research director. She is the Director of COMPTRASEC (Centre for Comparative Labour and Social Security Law), UMR CNRS 5114 at Bordeaux University. She is a specialist in international and comparative labour law and has been teaching in several Master’s programmes at Bordeaux University and the Bordeaux Institute for Political Studies since 1990. She is an associate researcher at CRIMT (Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work) in Canada. She has worked with the European parliament as an expert on decent work in developing countries. In April 2017, she was a guest expert at ILO in the context of the organization’s centenary: « The future of work we want: a global dialogue – An ILO centenary Initiative -Work and Society. » She was one of a group of experts brought together by ETUI-ETUC in June 2017 to reflect on a Scenario building: « Shaping the digital economy 2030, From research to action. »
Her research focuses on the social dimension of economic globalization, corporate social responsibility, the social impact of digitization of the economy, and international migration.
She is currently leading a research project funded by the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region on: « The platform economy and its impact on work and organizations » (2018-2021). Prof. Dr. Kübra Dogan Yenisey is professor of Labour and Social Security Law at Istanbul Bilgi University and the general secretary of Turkish Association of Labour and Social Security Law.
She went to Switzerland as scholarship holder of Swiss Confederation and studied labour and social security law in University of Geneva. She earned her Ph.D. by her thesis on ‘La
modification du contrat de travail, Etude de droit suisse et de droit français’ (published by Schultess) in 2000. She has authored and edited many books and numerous articles on individual

Thomas A. Kochan is the George M. Bunker Professor of Work and Employment Relations at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Co-Director of the MIT Institute for Work and Employment Research, and was Chair of the MIT Faculty from 2009 to 2011. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Relations from the University of Wisconsin in 1973. He is past president of the Industrial Relations Research Association and the International Industrial Relations Association. After the habilitation in 1984 at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Law, in 1988 Franz Marhold was appointed Associate Professor for Labour and Social law at this Faculty. In 1990 he became Full Professor for civil law and related fields at the University of Konstanz. After 1996 he served as Full Professor for Labour Law and Social Security Law at the Karl-Franzens-University, Graz. In 2012 Franz Marhold became Full Professor for Austrian and European Labour Law and Social Security Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Born in Liverpool (UK) in 1956, Guy Ryder studied Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge and Latin American Studies at the University of Liverpool. He speaks French and Spanish as well as his mother tongue, English. He started his professional career in 1981 as assistant at the International Department of the Trade Union Congress in London.
From 1985, he held the position of Secretary of the Industry Trade Section of the International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees (FIET) in Geneva.
In 1988, Guy Ryder became Assistant Director and – from 1993 – Director of the Geneva office of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU).
Guy Ryder first joined the International Labour Organization in 1998 as Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities and, from 1999, as Director of the Office of the Director-General. It was during this time that the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda was launched and won support from the international community.
In 2002, he was appointed General Secretary of the ICFTU, leading the process of global unification of the democratic international trade union movement. He was elected as first General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) when it was created in 2006. He headed international trade union delegations to high level talks with the UN, IMF, World Bank and WTO and to the G20 Leaders’ Summits.
In September 2010, Guy Ryder came back to the ILO in Geneva as Executive Director, responsible for international labour standards and fundamental principles and rights at work. Among other activities, he supervised the application of ILO Conventions and Recommendations. He also headed several high-level ILO missions to address a range of issues related to labour standards in countries such as Bahrain, Colombia, Fiji, Georgia, Greece, Myanmar and Swaziland.
Guy Ryder was elected as ILO Director-General by the ILO’s Governing Body in May 2012 and took office on 1 October 2012. On taking office, he pledged to position the Organization as a determined actor translating principle into action and ensuring that it had the capacity to make a major difference to the working lives of people on all of the continents. To support this he launched a major reform process geared to assuring the ILO’s authority on matters falling within its mandate.
Guy Ryder was re-elected as ILO Director-General by the ILO’s Governing Body on 7 November 2016 with overwhelming support across the « ILO’s tripartite constituency ». His next term started on 1 October 2017.
Jean-Michel Servais, Doctor in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Liège (Belgium). He was awarded doctor honoris causa from the University Attila József (Szeged, Hungary).
He is a former Director of the International Labour Office (ILO). He joined the Organization in Geneva on an external competition in 1972. He was in particular Deputy Regional Director at the ILO Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok (Thailand), Director of Operations at the ILO Office for Arab States in Beirut (Lebanon), research Coordinator at the ILO International Institute for Labour Studies and Special Advisor to the Director-General before leaving the Organization in 2005. He has a fluent command of English, French (mother tongue) and Spanish, and a passive knowledge of Catalan, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese.
He was elected Secretary-General (1988-2001) and later Honorary President of the International Society for Labour Law and Social Security. He has been Visiting Professor at the Faculties of Law of the Universities of Liege (1993-2015) and Gerona (2005 till now) and an associate member of COMPTRASEC (Centre of comparative labour and social security law, University Montesquieu, Bordeaux). He is member of various academic associations and of the scientific committee of several reviews. He has given courses and lectures in many universities and other institutions in various European and non-European countries. He participates at present in the project of the Collège de France « Vers un Ius commune universalisable? ».

Il Prof. Avv. Paolo Tosi, nato a Carrara il 25.3.1943, incaricato di diritto del lavoro presso la Facoltà di Economia e Commercio dell’Università Cattolica di Milano dal 1970 fino al 2005, è stato Ordinario di Diritto del Lavoro sin dal 1976, dapprima con cattedra alla Facoltà di Giurisprudenza di Palermo e in seguito, dal 1978 fino al 2013, presso la Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell’Università di Torino.
Dal maggio 2015 è professore emerito di diritto del lavoro nella medesima Università.
Il Prof. Tosi è stato componente di numerose commissioni e organismi consultivi: tra questi l’Osservatorio permanente di Confindustria e il Comitato giuridico di Federmeccanica; la Commissione Giugni presso la Presidenza del Consiglio per la revisione del Protocollo di luglio 1993; la Commissione per le rappresentanze sindacali aziendali presso il Ministero del Lavoro; la Commissione presso il Ministero della Funzione Pubblica per il lavoro pubblico privatizzato.
E’ coautore, dalla metà degli anni ottanta del secolo scorso, del Manuale di Diritto del Lavoro più diffuso nelle Università italiane e autore di innumerevoli pubblicazioni (monografie, saggi e note a sentenza) in materia lavoristica e previdenziale.
Relatore in importanti convegni di settore, è condirettore della rivista Argomenti di Diritto del Lavoro edita da CEDAM.
Tiziano Treu is a professor emeritus of Labour Law at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan. He has held the position of Minister of Labour in Dini and Prodi, and Minister of Transport in the D’Alema government.

Adalberto Perulli is Full Professor of Labour Law at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Visiting Professor at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense since 2000. He is the Director of a First Level Master in Global Economics and Social Affairs and Scientific Director of a First Level Master in Labour Law at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He did research and studies for the European Commission and for the International Labour Organization (ILO) of Geneva. Prof. Perulli has been rapporteur to the XVIII World Congress of Labour Law on « Labour Law and productive decentralization » in Paris, on 2006; He is Master EMA Director at EIUC (European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation).
